We understand that appointments, illnesses, family commitments, and unexpected situations are all a part of life. If your child will be absent or arriving late, please let us know as early as possible. A quick email or phone call helps us keep our attendance records accurate and, most importantly, ensures we know your child is safe.
If you know in advance that your child will be away from school, please let us know ahead of time whenever possible. If your child wakes up feeling unwell or is unable to attend unexpectedly, we kindly ask that you notify us in the morning before the start of the school day.
Reporting an Absence or Late Arrival

- Attendance Line: 250-386-8213 (please leave us a voicemail anytime. Our attendance voicemail is monitored throughout the school day, and we’ll update your child’s attendance as soon as we receive your message.)
If we have not received notification of an absence, our automated attendance system will contact parents or guardians using the phone numbers we have on file to ensure your child is safe.
Arriving Late
If your child arrives after the school day has begun, they need to check in at the office to receive a late slip before heading to class. Our office staff are always happy to welcome students, help them get checked in, and support them as they make their way to class.
Early Dismissal
If your child needs to leave school before the end of the day, please email ShorelineAttendance@sd61.bc.ca in advance whenever possible.
Before leaving, students are required to sign out at the office. If a student becomes ill during the school day, they will visit the office, where a staff member will contact a parent or guardian before they are signed out.
For planned appointments, parents or guardians are also welcome to call the school office at 250-386-8367 or come into the office to sign their child out. For everyone’s safety, students are not permitted to wait outside the school for pick-up.
