Student Enrolment Priorities

When a school receives more enrolment requests than it has space to accommodate, the School District’s enrolment priorities are used to determine placement.

Student Enrolment Priorities

  1. Re-enrolling students
  2. Catchment area siblings
  3. Catchment area students
  4. Non-catchment siblings impacted by a catchment boundary change
  5. Non-catchment siblings
  6. Non-catchment students
  7. Students residing outside of School District 61

These enrolment priorities apply to all new registrations, transfer requests, and student transitions between elementary, middle, and secondary schools, including both English and French programs.

If space is limited at a middle or secondary school, priority for non-catchment requests will be given to students who are already following the school’s established pathway over other non-catchment students who are not part of that pathway.

To find your neighbourhood (catchment) school, please use the School Locator Tool on the School District 61 website.
